In 1947 the objective of the founders of the Mont Pelerin Society was

“to facilitate an exchange of ideas between like-minded scholars in the hope of strengthening the principles and practice of a free society” which is as relevant today as it was then and particularly in an area covering the Balkans, the Ex-Soviet Republics and the Middle East.

Come and join this important discussion on the relationship between the state and a free society with those living in the area who are working hard to promote free societies in their countries in the 21st Century.

This is a unique opportunity to listen to top class speakers from around the world, participate in an important discussion with those who have first hand experience of living in societies where freedoms are limited and enjoy the wonder and beauty of Istanbul, a city at the intersection of continents and cultures with a fascinating history and vibrant arts.

The Venue is the Marmara Hotel in Taksim Square , Central Istanbul which offers everything needed for a memorable stay and top class conference. There is also a choice of three other less expensive, very local hotels.

The Organising Committee are John Blundell (USA), Ozlem Caglar-Yilmaz (Turkey), Professor Mustafa Erdogan (Turkey), Professor Julian Morris (UK), Professor Bican Sahin (Turkey), Professor Atilla Yayla, joint chairman (Turkey), Linda Whetstone, joint chairman (UK) and Professor Veselin Vukotic (Montenegro)

Sunday 2nd October – Excursion in Istanbul and private boat trip on the Bosphorus.

Monday 3rd October – Full day of conference and Gala dinner at the Dahill Resaurant with stunning views of the Bosphorus.

Support this Meeting. Whether or not you can attend, please do consider supporting the attendance of a participant from the Balkans, ex-Soviet Republics or Middle East. We know of many who would make an excellent contribution to the debate and it can be done through a 501(c)(3) using the Donate link above.
